Two People Injured In Separate Accidents In Osceola County

February 23, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Sibley)– Separate accidents earlier this week in Osceola county sent two people to the hospital.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office says the first one happened this past Sunday. Authorities say 53-year-old Alan Hoppe of Sibley lost control of a 2013 Ford while traveling southbound on Oriole Avenue about 1/4 mile north of Sibley. The vehicle went into the ditch and rolled at least twice before coming to rest in a field. Hoppe sustained incapacitating injuries and was taken by ambulance to Osceola Regional Health Center. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $15,000.

Authorities say the other mishap took place a little before 4:30 pm Monday. The Sheriff’s Office says a 17-year-old from Sibley was driving a 2011 Ford Edge eastbound on 7th Street in Sibley and 69-year-old Joanne Klaasen of Sibley was driving a 2016 GMC Yukon southbound on 8th Avenue and pulled into the path of the Ford Edge. The 17-year-old driver of that vehicle was taken by ambulance to Osceola Regional Health Center. Klaasen was cited for failure to yield. Damage to the Ford Edge was estimated at $10,000 while the GMC sustained an estimated $3,000 in damage.
