(Spencer)– The city of Spencer will be teaming up with the Spencer YMCA this summer for some programming with the city’s Parks and Recreation Department. Jared Elbert oversees the department for the city. He says it will allow them to offer some expanded programming in the upcoming season…
“We’re trying to, you know it’s been talked about for a couple of years here, on trying to expand our programming within the department, while we don’t have a full time program director like a lot of cities do. So the Y offers some great programming and so it just made sense for us to partner with them to assist us with programming in our parks and getting those out there and getting different activities out within our park system. And so we’ve kind of worked together. We’ve identified several different programs including sand volleyball which has been going on for quite some time already; pickleball league, tennis league, three-on-three basketball and a bags league as well.”
The city council Monday evening voted to approve the partnership agreement, which calls for proceeds from registration fees to be evenly split between the entities.
