(Estherville)– It was a busy weekend for the Estherville Fire Department. Chief Travis Sheridan says firefighters responded to three separate calls, with the first coming a little before 10:00 pm Friday when they responded to a report of light smoke in the west wing of the Estherville-Lincoln Central High School. Sheridan says a faulty blower motor in a furnace was found to be the cause. Firefighters ventilated a hallway. They were on the scene about 45 minutes.
The second call came a little before 7:30 am Saturday when they responded to 508 North 6th Street to a report of heavy smoke in a residence. Sheridan says that, too, was the result of a faulty furnace. Firefighters ventilated the home. They were there about a half hour.
The third call came shortly after 9:30 pm Sunday when Estherville firefighters were called to 1020 3rd Avenue South after getting a report of smoke filling a home. Sheridan says they pulled down a portion of a ceiling and determined the smoke was coming from an electrical problem. Firefighters were at that location about two hours.
