City Officials Closely Monitoring Bill That Could Impact Local Option Sales Tax Collections

(Okoboji)– Local communities are keeping a close eye on a bill in the Iowa Legislature that could have a potential impact on local option sales tax revenue. They’re concerned it could take the distribution of that money out of the hands of local officials. Okoboji City Administrator Michael Meyers…

“So we’re watching a bill and the League of Cities who is partners with the city of Okoboji here, we’re just watching a bill that could make significant changes to Local Option Sales Tax. The city of Okoboji gets about $240,000 in Local Option Sales Tax and it’s something we just want to keep an eye on and make sure that we protect and know what’s going on.”

Whether or not the measure will make it out of committee is uncertain as of now.
