(Spirit Lake)– Court documents are shedding some additional light into a shooting earlier today (Thurs.) in Milford that seriously injured a woman.
Authorities were called to the parking lot at Grapetree Medical Staffing a little after 8:00 am. after getting a report of a woman who had been shot. The documents say Christian William Goyne-Yarns of Jackson, Minnesota, has been charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting the woman at least twice. The woman identified Goyne-Yarns as the alleged shooter when she called 911. Goyne-Yarns was taken into custody a short time later at Pure Fishing in Spirit Lake, where he was working.
The shooting resulted in several area businesses and the Okoboji schools going into lockdown for a time. Those were lifted after Goyne-Yarns was apprehended. He’s being held in the Dickinson county jail.
Authorities have not released any other details or a possible motive.
We’ve learned the victim, who’s name has not been released by authorities, was treated at Lakes Regional Healthcare and was transferred by air to a Sioux Falls hospital in critical condition.
Officials with the Iowa Department of Public Safety say the shooting remains under investigation and that additional charges are possible.
