(Jackson, Mn.)– A Jackson-based company is looking at a major expansion of broadband service in two counties in southwest Minnesota. Federated Rural Electric Association CEO Scott Reimer told Jackson County Commissioners this week they’re looking into grants for broadband installation across Jackson and Martin counties. Reimer says the plans are ready and that federal funding is the main focus for now…
He mentioned that many of these grants go off a points system, where less money and importance of the project net you points towards getting federal grant money…
Commisisoners said they support the move. Two of them expressed interest being on a board to help with broadband plans across the county.
