University of Okoboji Winter Games Polar Plunge to be held near Queen II Saturday

January 24, 2022 Becky Thoreson

The Polar Plunge will be held by the Queen II during Winter Games this year, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:

The University of Okoboji Winter Games will once again feature the popular Polar Plunge on Saturday afternoon.

Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber Director of Membership and Events Kylie Zankowski says, registration will be held the day of the event for those who dare to take the plunge into the icy waters of West Lake Okoboji. “We only do day of registration for the Polar Plunge. So, you’ll want to head over to the Queen II ticket booth and register for that event. That starts at 1:30 and the Plunge itself starts at 3. We really encourage everyone to get there as close to 3 if not sooner than that if possible, because the Plunge goes very quickly. So, if you’re not there at 3, you might miss it, but it’s a great event with proceeds going to an awesome cause with the Arnolds Park Okoboji Fire and Rescue, and the Plunge will be next to the Queen II this year. You’ll have to walk on the boardwalk to get there with the construction on Lake Street, but we’re really excited to have it by the Queen II again this year.”

The Polar Plunge will be held just to the west of the Queen II.
