University of Okoboji Winter Games Online Registration Closing Soon

January 20, 2022 Becky Thoreson

The University of Okoboji Winter Games are just a week away. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has an update:

With the University of Okoboji Winter Games coming up next week, The Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber is encouraging participants to register for the various events.
Director of Membership and Events Kiley Zankowski says, some of the events are already full. “The online registration is closing very soon so if you have not registered online yet, please head over to do that at uofowintergames.com. I believe at least 3 or 4 of our tournaments are already full, so if you haven’t signed up yet, you’ll want to do so as soon as possible so that you meet those deadlines.”

She notes that several new events will be held this year. “The Smooshing event is a new event at Okoboji Boat Works, and it’s where teams of 3 tie their feet onto a 2 x 4 board and they do a little race. So, it’s a lot of fun, it’s going to be a great one to watch and a fun one to participate in. The proceeds are going to Hope Rolls, which is a really, really great nonprofit in our Community. There are a couple other new events this year. One of which is a Pool Tournament at The Waterfront this year, so if you’re looking for an indoor activity or you love playing pool, you’ll definitely want to check that event out. There’s also a Skee Ball at Arnolds Park Museum. So, a couple fun events. I do know that a lot of those take day of registrations as long as space is available, along with the 5K race takes day of registrations. So, there are some things if you miss the deadline for the team events, you can still pop in on a couple of those day of events as well.”
