NW Iowa Communities Awarded Funds Through Empower Rural Iowa Initiative

(Des Moines)– Several northwest Iowa communities have been awarded funding through the Empower Rural Iowa Initiative. The cities of Ashton, Ocheyedan, Emmetsburg and Sibley will each receive $10,000 in Rural Housing Assessment Grants. Pocahontas county was awarded a $20,000 Rural Return Grant to develop and a registry an alumni registry and chamber membership incentive program. Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, Palo Alto county, will be getting a $10,000 Rural Child Care Market Study Grant for the city of Emmetsburg; and the city of Pocahontas will receive a $1,000 Rural Innovation Grant.
