(Estherville)– The Board of Trustees of Iowa Lakes Community College Tuesday accepted the retirement of President Valerie Newhouse, effective this coming June 30th. Newhouse has served as President since 2009 and is the institution’s 7th president.

In a statement, Board President Janice Lund expressed the board’s gratitude to Newhouse for her “significant success in leading the college”, adding they are grateful for her longevity of service.

Newhouse says it was “such a humbling and rewarding honor to have served Iowa Lakes Community College as President for 13 years”. She added “Iowa Lakes is like home and we are a family. Everything about Iowa Lakes, from our dedication to living our mission, vision, and values to our wonderful students, employees, board, alumni and friends.”

A search for her successor will get underway immediately.
