A Wall Lake man was taken in to custody by Sac County authorities after leading them on a pursuit late Tuesday afternoon.
The Sac County Sheriff’s Department says a deputy on patrol in Wall Lake noticed a pick-up truck with no license plates. The deputy recognized the driver as Ralph John Freese, age 27, of Wall Lake. The deputy tried to pull over Freese when Freese attempted to flee law enforcement.
The pursuit lasted approximately 9-minutes, with speeds reaching in excess of 80 miles per hour at times. Authorities say Freese lost control of the pick-up after crossing the intersection of Hope Avenue and 400th Street. Freese entered the south ditch, struck a tree and rolled his vehicle.
The 1999 Chevy Silverado Freese was driving was totaled in the crash. Freese was transported to Loring Hospital in Sac City by Sac County EMS. Freese was treated and released into the custody of the Sac County Sheriff’s Office.
Arrest warrants had previously been issued for Freese, including a felony warrant out of Ida County for alleged probation violation, and an aggravated misdemeanor warrant out of Sac County for alleged failure to appear for driving while barred.
Freese has been charged with Eluding, an aggravated misdemeanor, and Driving while Suspended. He is also being held on the failure to appear and probation violation warrants. His total bond is set at $17,300.00.
