It’s Family Nature Night at the Dickinson County Nature Center on Friday, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Dickinson County Nature Center will hold their final Family Nature Night of the year on December 17.
Community Relations Coordinator Jessica Bode says the event will have a Christmas theme. “The theme for this month is Christmas Spiders, so we’re kind of combining the nature of spiders with Christmas. We’re going to be learning about the folklore tale of tinsel and how spiders play a role in that. So that’s a German and Ukrainian folk tale that we’re going to be reading. We’re going to start by reading that around the fire, so kids are welcome to wear their pajamas and bring a blanket so they can be nice and cozy, and then they’re also going to be making their own Christmas ornament which will be spider-themed, as well. So really, just a fun variety of activities for them.”
She adds that the program is free, however registration is requested. “We ask them to call the Nature Center or stop in to preregister for the event just so we have an idea of how many participants there will be.”
Family Nature Night will start at 5 o’clock Friday evening at the Nature Center.
