(Spirit Lake)– Looks like we could be seeing our first bout of the season with old man winter. Forecasters are saying the first significant snowfall of the season appears likely for the region Friday.
The National Weather Service says snow is expected to begin falling around sunrise Friday and that it could get heavy Friday afternoon, before ending in the evening. Some patchy blowing snow could also develop. A winter storm watch has been issued for Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Emmet, O’Brien, Palo Alto, Plymouth and Sioux counties in our area from Friday morning into Friday evening.
Forecasters say that based on current indications, 4 to 6 inches of the white stuff could fall on the Iowa Great Lakes. They say that could have an impact on motorists and that those with travel plans Friday and Friday evening should pay close attention to future forecasts.
