(Arnolds Park)– The search is on for a new CEO of Historic Arnolds Park, Amusement Park, Inc. following the announcement Monday evening that Jeff Vierkant will be resigning from the position effective at the end of January. Vierkant shared with KUOO news his thoughts on stepping down…
“You know, Steve, I had, you know, four years here at the amusement park and it’s just been a fantastic four years. I really enjoyed working with the board of directors, the staff, and the community and really appreciate all of the support that everybody’s given the park during my tenure over the last four years. I’m really proud of the accomplishments. It’s difficult to leave such a fantastic organization but, you know, looking at some things from a family perspective. I don’t have anything that I can, you know, share right now in terms of next steps, but there should be some news in the upcoming weeks.”
Vierkant says he’s proud of the many accomplishments that were made at the park and its facilities during his tenure…
“When I look at the park today and think about where we were when I came on board four years ago and even prior to that time, obviously under Charlie’s leadership, the whole Restore The Park opportunity happened with the restoration of the museum and the pavilion. I got to come on board just as those two projects were wrapping up and I got to be involved in the building of the new Roof Garden which was just amazing. And then, of course, Imagine Iowa Great Lakes came in and re-did the promenade and the boardwalk. You know the park really has probably never looked better and that’s just thanks to the community’s commitment that we’ve had over the past several years. And by the time we come around to next summer with Lake Street and the new stage it’s going to be even more amazing.”
Vierkant added there’s a lot about the job he’s going to miss, especially when it comes to the park’s staff…
“These people work tirelessly to make sure the community has the experience that the park can provide. I’m also going to miss all the interactions I’ve had with the community. It’s fun to hear the stories about how Historic Arnolds Park has been so special to so many people over the generations.”
Vierkant says he’s very excited for the future of Historic Arnolds Park, Amusement Park, Incorporated…
“They’re led by a fantastic board of directors with a wonderful vision. Incredibly hard working staff that’s dedicated, and the community’s investment. I’m really looking forward, Steve, to spending a lot of time down here as a customer.”
In a press release, board Chairman Charlie Whittenburg expressed his thanks to Vierkant for his work and “the culture that he has helped us to build during this time at Arnolds Park.”
