Dickinson County Supervisors Review Proposed New Voting Precinct Maps

December 07, 2021 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– Dickinson county supervisors today (Tues.) reviewed a proposed map of the county’s new voting precincts based on the findings of the 2020 census. Matt Richter served on the committee that drew up the new map. He told Supervisors it reflects one major goal of the group…

“We were presented with a couple of plans of how to redo the precincts. Under the current system that we have, we have 15 precincts which just makes things complicated for the Auditor’s Office. So one of our goals was to go from 15 precincts and we were able to shrink it down to 12.”

Richter says a few things still need to happen before things are finalized…

“We’ll be on the agenda again a week from now to actually make the ordinance change and then from there it gets passed on to the state office and the state gives their blessing, and then we’re set for the next 10 years.”

A public hearing on the proposed redistricting plan is set for the supervisors next meeting, December 14th at 9:30 am.
