Special Election To Be Held To Fill District 1 Seat On O’Brien County Board Of Supervisors

November 18, 2021 Steve Schwaller

(Primghar)– A special election will be held December 7th to fill a seat on the O’Brien County Board of Supervisors. The vacancy was created in October when 1st district supervisor Sherri Bootsma announced her resignation because she is moving out of the county.

A committee consisting of the O’Brien County Auditor, Recorder and Treasurer convened and made the decision to go ahead with a special election rather than appointing someone to fill the remaining three years of the term.

Only one person is actively seeking the seat. O’Brien county Republicans have nominated Timothy Overmire. Democrats in the county did not forward the name of a candidate for their party.

District one is located in the eastern and northeastern portions of O’Brien county.
