Crash Claims Life Of A Storm Lake Man

A man has died and two others were hospitalized after a two-vehicle collision near Storm Lake.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident occurred around 9 this (Fri) morning. A pickup driven by 33-year-old Juan Alday Pena of Storm Lake was traveling northbound on Highway 71. The pickup reportedly lost control, crossed the center line, and collided head-on with an SUV driven by 46-year-old Terry Stevens of Spencer.

Pena was pronounced dead at the scene. Stevens and a passenger in the pickup, 41-year-old Ninfa Cabral Bautista, were transported to a local hospital.

The accident is still under investigation. The weather is believed to have contributed to the accident, according to the State Patrol.
