Collision Involving A Grain Truck And Tractor Sends One Person To The Hospital

November 12, 2021 Steve Schwaller

(Ashton)– One person was taken to the hospital Tuesday when a grain truck and a tractor collided near Ashton.

Authorities say 62-year-old Clifford Kruger of George was driving a 2000 Peterbilt grain truck eastbound on county road A-46 and 49-year-old Daniel Petersen of May City was driving a 2013 John Deere tractor owned by Osceola county when the collision occurred. The impact caused the tractor to spin around, ejecting Petersen from the cab. He was taken by ambulance to the Sheldon hospital and was treated and released. No injuries were reported to Kruger.

Authorities say the tractor was pulling a packer and a roller and was part of a road maintenance crew. They add there were a number of vehicles ahead of Petersen, along with some parked along the road. They say that likely created a blind spot as Petersen was attempting to turn around at a driveway. That’s when the collision took place.
