Traffic Stop Results In Arrest Of Estherville Man On Multiple Charges

November 12, 2021 Steve Schwaller

(Estherville)– A traffic stop earlier this week landed an Estherville man in jail on multiple charges.

The Estherville Police Department says it happened shortly before 5:00 pm Tuesday when an officer pulled over a vehicle in the 400 block of North 12th Street. It was determined the driver had been operating with a suspended license. Officers could also smell marijuana coming from the vehicle. Police say the driver produced several THC vape pens and three marijuana cigarettes. A further search of the vehicle turned up about a quarter of a pound of marijuana and about one ounce of marijuana wax.

The driver, 18-year-old Cruz Hernandez-Gonzalez of Estherville, was arrested on charges of possession with intent to deliver marijuana, possession with intent to deliver marijuana wax, a drug tax stamp violation, possession of marijuana…a THC vape pen, failure to obey a traffic control device, driving while suspended, failure to provide security against liability, and possession of tobacco as a minor.

Police say a 17-year-old juvenile in the vehicle was released to the custody of a relative.
