The Iowa Lakes Community College Student Senate has started a food drive, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
Iowa Lakes Community College Student Senate members on the Estherville campus are sponsoring a food drive.
Student Senate Advisor Katie King says the food will be donated to Upper Des Moines Opportunity. “The Student Senators came up with, kind of trying to give back for Thanksgiving and a community service project, and so, what they’re going to do is, they’re going to take non-perishable items from November 8th to November 22nd and donate them to Upper Des Moines here in town as a way to kind of give back. Upper Des Moines said they’re in need of canned vegetables, peanut butter and jelly, but obviously they would accept all donations, but that’s just something they are low on.”
She notes that there are a couple of drop off locations. “The first option would be to drop off the items at the campus here in Estherville. You can drop off at the Admissions Office or be directed to the Student Senate office and drop them off there. The other option is, we are collecting at athletic events. So, if they bring in two non-perishable items to any of the athletic events between November 8th and 22nd, they’ll get a free popcorn. We want to thank the Iowa Lakes Athletic Department for partnering with us.”
