(Undated)– The application period for Iowa’s Low-income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) begins today (Monday, Nov. 1st).
Iowa Utilities Board spokesman Donald Tormey says the program provides a payment to help with heating bills. He says it is not a free ride and recipients are encouraged to pay something toward their utility bill in addition to any assistance that is received. Tormey adds anyone behind on their bill should contact their utility provider first to talk about options.
