New VP Of Business Development For Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corp Introduces Himself

(Spirit Lake)– The new Vice President of Business Development at the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation is making the rounds introducing himself. Tom Nelson most recently served as Economic Development Coordinator for the city of Jackson for four years. He was at Tuesday’s Spirit Lake City Council meeting…
“While in Jackson I had a great opportunity to work with a number of different organizations, the city run Economic Development Authority, working on everything from single family housing to multi family housing projects. Worked with the development corporation up there working with industrial site selection processes, directly developing both industrial and recently retail projects as well, getting a lot of experience with those different projects, as well as a main street organization out of there as well. So we were able to create a number of different programs from scratch, helping out a lot of small businesses to start up there.”
Nelson added he has several ties to northwest Iowa and is excited to be taking on the new position with the Corridor…
“Everything from my mother who graduated from Spencer, my wife graduated from Spencer, and me coming down here of course a lot. I’m really excited to be coming down to this area, bringing the energy hopefully, really with a lot of transition with both team members but I know we both are looking forward to really gaining on the momentum we’ve had in the past but also hoping to bring some new ideas.”
Nelson says he looks forward to meeting everyone as he continues to acclimate himself with the Corridor and its four county service area.
