A Halloween event is on tap at the Dickinson County Nature Center on Friday, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Dickinson County Nature Center will hold their annual Howlin’ Halloween on Friday, October 29.
Community Relations Coordinator Jessica Bode says it’s an owl-themed event this year. “It’s our annual Howlin’ Halloween. This year the theme is about owls, so we’re emphasizing the owl in Howlin’ Halloween, and that’s going to start at 3:30 and it’s going to go for about an hour, so it will get done by about 4:30 that day. It’s going to be animal-themed, so we’ll have a scientific experiment for the older kids, and they’ll be dissecting an owl pellet, and then we’ll also have a craft for the younger kids that they’re able to take home with them. There’s also going to be a sweet treat that’s owl-themed as well, and they’ll get to learn a little bit about owls and what they do for us.”
She notes that the event is free, however, preregistration is requested. “They can preregister by calling the Nature Center. We do still have plenty of room left for that. Kids are encouraged to wear costumes.”
