Construction Of A New Boat Ramp At West Leech Park In Spencer To Get Underway In The Spring

(Spencer)– Plans to replace a boat ramp on the Little Sioux River at West Leech Park in Spencer are moving forward. Mayor Kevin Robinson says the city council awarded a bid on the project earlier this week…

“The boat ramp will be between $170,00 and $180,000. MLS Landscaping will be putting that boat ramp in. The current boat ramp points a little bit upstream and it silts in quite often. If you’ve ever kayaked or boated out of that ramp you know that it’s pretty mucky. So this ramp will be turned downstream, it will be paved, we’ll have big sections that will be pushed into the river, and the cost of the project will be 75 percent covered by the DNR with the city absorbing 25 percent.”

Construction will get underway when the weather allows in the spring.
