Car Vs Semi Collision Results In Serious Injuries

October 18, 2021 Steve Schwaller

(Fonda)– A collision Friday involving a car and a semi in Pocahontas county seriously injured the driver of the car.

The Iowa State Patrol says 28-year-old Heidi Tuerck of Fonda was driving a 2008 Ford Focus southbound on a county road two miles north of Fonda when her vehicle drifted across the center line and collided with a semi driven by 64-yer-old Lyn Bruns of Lytton. Tuerck’s vehicle then went into the east ditch; the semi, loaded with soybeans, went into the west ditch.

Tuerck was taken to the Pocahontas hospital and was transferred by air to another facility. A 10-month-old child passenger in Tuerck’s vehicle was secured in a safety seat in the rear and was transported to the hospital for evaluation. Bruns was checked over on the scene by paramedics and was released.

Authorities say the collision remains under investigation.
