Joint Service Clubs of Estherville hosting Family Event October 10

October 07, 2021 Becky Thoreson

The Service Clubs of Estherville are holding a Family Event on Sunday, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:

The Joint Service Clubs of Estherville will be holding a fun event for families on Sunday.

Committee Chair Robert Leifeld says, the event will have a carnival theme. “So, it’s The Rotary, The Kiwanis, The Wa Tan Ye’s and The Elks Club, we join together to offer these events, and this year we’re looking at a family event, and it’s a carnival theme. So, just a safe environment, come out and enjoy some games and arts & crafts, have a few carnival snacks like popcorn and ice cream and cotton candy, and just enjoy time together.”

He notes that proceeds will support the Backpack Program. “The Estherville Lincoln School District has the Backpack Program. It’s all about helping reduce food insecurities, and so it’s a weekend program to send food and snacks home to ensure that students in the school district do not go hungry.”

He adds that tickets are $10 per family, with advance purchases encouraged. “We greatly appreciate advance ticket sales. They can be purchased at The Estherville Chamber of Commerce, Iowa Lakes Community College at the Estherville Campus, just ask for Leticia, and The Estherville Regional Wellness Center. It just helps us get a count so we can ensure that we always have enough of the treats, food, activities and prizes.”

The event will run from 2-4 Sunday afternoon at the Iowa Lakes Community College SERT Building.
