(Spirit Lake)– A Spirit Lake man was injured and faces charges in a high speed pursuit Sunday in northeast Iowa.
The Iowa State Patrol says 32-year-old George Williamson of Spirit Lake was driving a 2019 Dodge pickup that had been pulled over. Troopers say Williamson gave false information about his identity and that there were fraudulent plates on the vehicle. Authorities say Williamson then drove off at a high rate of speed, with the pursuit reaching 112 mph at one point. It went on for some 25 minutes before the vehicle crashed at an intersection in Black Hawk county.
Troopers say Williamson was injured in the crash and was airlifted to a hospital.
Online court records indicate Williamson was charged with eluding and harrassment of a public official.
