Good Neighbor Fund Of Dickinson County Launches Its Annual Fundraising Campaign

October 01, 2021 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– The Good Neighbor Fund of Dickinson County is in the midst of its annual fundraising campaign. Luke Donnenwerth tells KUOO news the goal this year is $90,000. He says 22 nonprofits will be benefited…

“Yeah, a lot of these groups have smaller budgets and what we’re able to raise through the community and give back to them plays a big role in their budgets and the impact they’re able to have on the community.”

Donnenwerth says some mailers are in the process of going out…

“So you’ll start seeing those in your mailboxes. There’s a blue mailer, just like we’ve sent in prior years, and we’ll collect funds through the fall and winter and then distribute the funds in the spring to these nonprofits.”

He adds the Good Neighbor Fund of Dickinson County has become well known through the years…

“Yeah, it started back in the 1950’s and continues to go strong. I looked back and since 2004 we’ve given back over a million dollars to the nonprofits in Dickinson county, so all of the donations certainly have a big impact.”

Donnenwerth says donors can rest assured their contributions stay in the local community…

“And the nice thing about the Good Neighbor Fund is that we can write one check to us and we distribute it evenly among the 22 groups that are part of the fund drive. So it’s a good way to support numerous nonprofits with just writing one check.”

Anyone who would like to donate that does not receive a mailer may do so by making checks payable to the Good Neighbor Fund of Dickinson County. They can be sent to P.O. Box 454, Spirit Lake…51360.
