Heads up for bicyclists on Saturday morning, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The University of Okoboji Oktoberfest Celebration will feature a full line up of activities on Saturday, including the 30th Annual Bike Ride Around West Okoboji.
Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber Director of Membership and Events, Kylie Zankowski says, motorists are urged to exercise caution with hundreds of cyclists expected to participate. “So, the route’s going to be a little different this year, we’re trying to stick to the trails a little more, especially with some construction that’s going on on Lakeshore Drive, but we do want to encourage people to watch out for the riders. There’s a couple places where they will be crossing the highway. So, please just be cautious and be courteous, with all these people enjoying the trails and the route that we have for them for the Oktoberfest Bike Ride this year.”
Registration for the ride will begin at 8 o’clock Saturday morning at Preservation Plaza, with the ride starting at 10. The route will include a trip around Lake Minnewashta, with the cyclists biking in a clockwise direction around West Okoboji.
