The Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association will present several musical events over the holiday weekend.
Executive Director Clay Norris says, things get started Thursday evening. “We’re going to start out from 6 to 9 in the Roof Garden with a double header. So, we’ve got Mogen’s Heroes and Surfin’ Safari for Rock the Roof. On Sunday night in the Roof Garden as well, we are having an event called Rock the Park. It’s the first concert of the series that we’re going to be doing. This is going to have 16 musicians involved in it. It’s going to be The Mr. V. Trio with the Lone Tree Horns, that’s the first group, and then The Western Iowa All Stars, and they also will be playing together at one point. That is from 6:30 to 9:30 on Sunday night.”
He notes that the Association will also host events on the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Museum Patio. “That series is called Rock the Patio, and it kicks off Friday night. The Union County Strings will be playing, they’re from Southwest Iowa, 6:30 to 9:30 pm, and then on Saturday from 3 to 5, Bill Carpenter will be performing. On Memorial Day itself, from 11 to 1, we have Rockin’ Vance and Poppa Ric.”
