New Tool Being Made Available To Assist Small Business Owners

May 26, 2021

(Spirit Lake)– Small business owners in the area have a new way to help get the word out about what they have to offer. Amy Benge (Benj), an Office Assistant with ISU Extension and Outreach Dickinson County, says they’ve received several photo boxes from the Iowa Small Business Development Center…Benge & Photo Boxes01

“They actually received a grant to purchase 900 of these photo boxes and get them all over the state of Iowa so that small businesses have the resources to take pictures of their products and then be able to put them online through social media, on the shopiowa.com website. Just have a nice easy way to take good quality pictures of their products.”

Benge says the boxes have been distributed to various locations throughout Dickinson county…Benge & Photo Boxes02

“Vacation Okoboji has one, Iowa Great Lakes Chamber of Commerce, Spirit Lake Chamber of Commerce, Milford Public Library, and the city of Lake Park all have one. So they could give them a call or stop in to any of those locations and they can check it out and take it to their business and they’ll be able to utilize that for their pictures. These boxes are a good size. They’re probably about two and-a-half foot, like a cube, and they’re a nice white background so they’ll get great pictures they can utilize to show off their products that they make.”

The photo boxes are part of the Iowa Small Business Development Center’s “Shop Iowa” initiative. You can find more information on their website at iowasbdc.com.
