Additional Signage, Other Finishing Touches Planned For East Lake Park In Okoboji

May 14, 2021

(Okoboji)– Although it’s been substantially complete for quite some time now, some finishing touches remain to be put in place at East Lake Park just off Highway 71 across from Kum ‘n Go in Okoboji. City Administrator Michael Meyers gave an update to the city council earlier this week. He says some additional signage will be going up…Meyers & East Lake Park signage

“There’s still a sign missing that’s going to kind of give some more history of the area; there’s a sign missing pertaining to the native prairie restorations happening on the lakeshore; and then there’s a water fountain that’s also missing that will be here soon at some point.”

Meyers says signage will also be installed on the public dock.

He adds they’re looking at installing some kind of temporary barrier to prevent vehicles from entering the park from a former entrance off the highway, where a curb cut is located.

The park was a joint project involving the city of Okoboji and Imagine Iowa Great Lakes.
