(Spencer)– We’re learning some new details into an incident that took place Monday evening in the parking lot at Spencer High School during a track meet.
Spencer police say they were notified around 6:00 pm of a pickup that drove through the lot at a high rate of speed. The driver of the pickup was confronted by a citizen. The citizen reported seeing what appeared to be firearms in the vehicle.
Officers located the pickup a short time later and identified three individuals that had been in it. Police say none of them were affiliated with the Spencer School District, and that officers determined the weapons in question were air soft guns and a BB gun, which were then confiscated by police.
Spencer police say the investigation into the incident is ongoing and that they are confident there are no current safety concerns to the district at this time.
