(Arnolds Park)– Officials with a local recording company and the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association have announced the release of the first production of their “Iowa Rocks Featured Artist Program”. Gary Lambert of Route 86 Records says it’s intended to put more of a spotlight on musical talent in the state…
“Growing up as a youth one of the highlights for me being a musician was when we got our first cd or heard our song on the radio, it just added some excitement and kind of a validation of what you’re doing. We want to give that opportunity to some people that maybe not have that where we can take their music and release it to the world and kind of show off the Iowa talent.”
He says they collaborated with a group of local students to put together the first production of the series…
“We went in and worked with the Okoboji Elementary 4th graders and kind of taught them a little about rock and roll and rhythms and some different instruments and then we wanted to actually write a song with them. So between me and Jo Gehrke, the music teacher there at Okoboji, we talked about some song structure, we talked a lot about Pachelbel’s Cannon which is a classical piece and how a lot of rock music uses that as a basis to write some rock tunes. So we took the Pachelbel’s Cannon and wrote a song about Okoboji that’s coming out this Thursday, April 22nd, it will be available.”
Lambert says there will be several different ways you’ll be able to hear the song, titled “Okoboji Let’s Go”…
“We’ll have links on our Facebook page which is Route 86 Records, or Instagram, Route 86 Records is the link you can click, and then the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame, they’ll have links too. It’s real easy. You just click on the link and then it will be available starting on April 22nd on everywhere that you stream music: Spotify, Apple, Tik Tok, I Heart, Amazon, You Tube. Everywhere that you find music you can look up Okoboji Let’s Go our Iowa Rocks Featured Artist, look that up, you’ll be able to find it.”
Lambert says one track per month will be selected for the Iowa Rocks Featured Artist program.
