Single Vehicle Crash In Clay County Results In Charges Against Teen Driver

April 19, 2021

(Ruthven)– Charges have been filed against a teenage driver in connection with a single vehicle crash early Saturday in Clay county that resulted in minor injuries.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called a little after 5:30 am Saturday to the intersection of 350th Street and 320th Avenue near Ruthven after getting a report of a pick up in the ditch. Upon arriving the vehicle was unoccupied.

An investigation revealed the crash took place around 2:30 am. Authorities say the driver apparently missed the turn to a driveway and the vehicle, a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado, went into the ditch. They determined the vehicle was allegedly being driven by 19-year-old Timothy Geelan of Ruthven, who, along with two passengers, were located later that morning at their homes.

After speaking with the occupants of the vehicle, authorities charged Geelan with failure to maintain control, possession of alcohol under the legal age and possession of tobacco products under the legal age.
