(Primghar)– A northwest Iowa man has pled guilty to a charge of first offense operating while intoxicated, a serious misdemeanor. The charge against 42-year-old Joshua Mahler stems from a crash in 2019 in O’Brien county that claimed the life of another man and injured two children.
Mahler was sentenced to a term of 180 days in jail, which was suspended. He was placed on electronic monitoring for 60 days and will serve a year of probation.
Authorities said Mahler had been driving a sport utility vehicle on October 6th, 2019, when he collided with another utility vehicle driven by 61-year-old Jerome Schueller. Schueller died in the crash; two boys ages 6 and 8 that were passengers on Schueller’s UTV were injured.
