March 23, 2021

(Wallingford)– Two Emmet county fire departments spent a portion of their day Sunday battling a wildland fire northeast of High Lake.

The Wallingford and Ringsted Fire Departments spent about three hours battling the fire, which was being fanned by a strong wind.

Authorities say no structures were threatened.

The cause of the fire isn’t certain. Officials say there were no controlled burns going on.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Emmet County Emergency Management, Emmet County Sheriff’s Office and the Wallingford ambulance assisted on the scene.

No injuries were reported.
