Dickinson Co. Supervisors Discuss DD 15; Award Bids On Courthouse Roofing, Telephone System & Board Meeting Room Projects

March 23, 2021

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors today (Tues.) approved a preliminary engineer’s report for a main ditch clean out for Drainage District 15, just south of Lake Park. Rick Hopper of the Jacobsen-Westergard Engineering firm, which is overseeing the project for the county, told the supervisors their report indicates some property owners to the west of there would also benefit but that area is currently not part of the district. He said they may want to consider annexing that area, some of which extends into Osceola county, into the district…Supervisors DD15

“You do not necessarily have to make it a joint district. They can waive their rights to establishing a joint district and then your county just manages it all.”

Hopper said he’ll be meeting soon with the Osceola County Board of Supervisors to see how they would feel about that.

In other business the supervisors awarded the low bid of nearly $64,000 to repair a portion of the courthouse roof; they voted 3 to 2 to award a bid of a little more than $43,000 for a new phone system for the courthouse; and they approved an addendum to a remodeling project in the supervisors meeting room which includes re-carpeting the entire room. It will bring the total cost of the project to about $37,000.
