Estherville Man arrested on Multiple Charges including Kidnapping and Sexual Abuse

(Spencer)-The Clay County Sheriff’s Office arrested an Estherville man on Sunday, February 28 on multiple charges. Authorities say 21 year old Hunter Gentry allegedly provided vaping and nicotine products to juveniles in December of last year.

Clay County Authorities were made aware of four children that were provided the products and also discovered that Gentry had allegedly been requesting and accepting elicit photos from the juveniles in exchange for the products.

Officials say further investigation uncovered an incident which occurred on December 9 of 2020, when Gentry met with a twelve year old child in Clay County to provide them with nicotine products. During this meeting, authorities say Gentry allegedly forced the child into his 2004 Chevrolet Venture against their will, drove to a remote location and sexually assaulted the child. While continuing the investigation, it was learned that Gentry had also allegedly assaulted a thirteen year old within the Spencer City Limits.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office issued warrants for Gentry’s arrest for the incident which took place on December 9. The warrants were for Kidnapping in the 1st Degree, a Class A Felony; Sexual Abuse in the 3rd Degree, a Class C Felony; Enticing a Minor, a Class C Felony; Lascivious Acts with a Child, a Class C Felony, and Indecent Contact with a Child, an Aggravated Misdemeanor.

The Spencer Police Department issued warrants for Gentry’s arrest for the assault which occurred in Spencer.

Gentry was arrested in Estherville by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office on February 28, 2021 with the assistance of the Estherville Police Department. Gentry was transported to Spencer and booked into the Clay County Jail with no bond.

The case remains under investigation by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Spencer Police Department.
