(Okoboji)–…WG Kickoff01 And with that this year’s University of Okoboji Winter Games were officially kicked off this morning for a full weekend of fun. Even though most of the indoor events, such as the chili cook-off and chocolate classic were canceled this year due to the pandemic, a myriad of other events, including those outdoors, are still on. Among them is the Polar Plunge, a benefit for Arnolds Park/Okoboji Fire and Rescue. Kaleen Jackson of Okoboji Motor Company, the event’s sponsor, says they’re hoping to surpass was they raised last year…WG Kickoff02
“So last year we raised just over $3,800. This year our goal is $5,000. So we need people to come by so we can get that money for them. They do a lot for everybody in the community.”
Registration for the Polar Plunge will be from 1:30 until 3:00 pm tomorrow (Sat.) with the plunge itself starting at 3:00 pm. The event will be held in front of the Arnolds Park Amusement Park on West Lake Okoboji.
That’s in addition to the score of other Winter Games events all weekend. You can find a complete schedule at uofowintergames-dot-com.
