Clay Co. Public Health Announces Plans To Begin Phase 1B, Tier 1 COVID Vaccinations February 1st, But Numbers Will Be Very Limited

January 28, 2021

(Spencer)– Clay County Public Health announced today (Thurs.) they’ll begin COVID vaccinations for those in Phase 1B, Tier 1 February 1st, but the number of people getting the shots will be very limited due to a lack of vaccine. Phase 1B Tier 1 includes those 65 and older along with first responders, Pre-K-12 school personnel and childcare workers.

In a press release, the agency says they expect to have about 150 doses available next week to begin immunizing those in the next phase.

Because of the limited supply Clay County Public Health says they are working with local healthcare professionals to identify patients 65 or older who are most vulnerable for severe illness. They say those patients will be contacted directly to schedule immunization appointments. No phone requests will be taken because of the extremely limited supply of vaccine.

Clay County Public Health Coordinator Collette Rossiter says healthcare officials have plans in place to scale clinics to accommodate the amount of vaccine allocated locally.
