Dickinson Co. Supervisors Approve Amended Recycling Agreement With City Of Orleans

January 20, 2021

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors Tuesday approved an amended agreement with the city of Orleans for recycling.

The city has been involved in a contractual agreement with the county for nearly a year now under which it receives a financial subsidy from the county in exchange for allowing residents in the unincorporated areas to use the drop off site. The location has seen a sharp increase in volume recently. Supervisor Kim Wermersen spoke in favor of the amended agreement…Amended Agreement

“They’re looking at getting another dumpster up there. They’re having more amount of times that they have to come and unload to dump so it’s costing them more money to do it. So we’re keeping our partnership is the biggest thing we’re doing, Bill, and it’s under what we had budgeted across the board for the county. I would look for this to start February 1st because that’s when their annual contract comes due.”

Terms of the new agreement calls for the county to increase it’s monthly payment to the city of Orleans from $750 a month currently to $1,000 a month.
