Arnolds Park Residents Will Soon Be Paying More For Water

January 17, 2021

(Arnolds Park)– Arnolds Park residents will soon be paying more for water. The city council last week voted to increase the minimum usage rate from $72 per quarter currently to $85 per quarter. The council took the action following a public hearing that drew no oral or written comments. They approved the 1st reading of an ordinance revising the rates and waived the 2nd and 3rd, granting final adoption.

Central Water, which provides drinking water to Arnolds Park and Okoboji, is increasing the rates it charges to those cities. Effective this coming July 1st, the rates Central Water charges the cities will increase from $3.50 per 1,000 gallons to $4.00 per 1,000.

The city of Okoboji is currently conducting a study of its rates and upcoming maintenance projects on its distribution system. The matter is likely to come to the council for consideration this spring.
