(Alton)– A two-vehicle collision Thursday in Sioux county claimed the life of a teen.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says 18-year-old Josiah Gonzalez of Granville was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu westbound on Highway 10 about three miles east of Alton. Deputies say Gonzalez lost control of his vehicle, which crossed the center line and collided with an eastbound 2019 Ford F-250 pickup driven by 45-year-old Barry Galles of Remsen.
Both drivers were taken by ambulances to local hospitals. Gonzalez was pronounced dead. Galles was treated for minor injuries and released.
The collision took place a little before 5:00 pm.
Authorities say it remains under investigation.
