Milford City Council Discusses Street Lighting On “P” Avenue & 13th Street

December 29, 2020

(Milford)– The Milford City Council Monday evening discussed street lighting on “P” Avenue and a portion of 13th Street. It was met with some sticker shock after they were presented with an estimate of $26,000 for not quite a block of lighting on 13th Street from Highway 71 to “P” Avenue. A study for lighting on “P” Avenue itself, which will be undergoing re-construction soon, is currently underway. Councilman Andy Yungbluth was in favor of the city budgeting for the street lighting in those areas…Street Lighting Discussion01

“We don’t know. Materials could come back down. Say we budget $100,000 to do the lighting on P Avenue and 13th Street and by the time we’re done with the project it could be $75,000.”

Mayor Steve Anderson said it would make sense to do the street lighting in conjunction with the “P” Avenue reconstruction while things are torn up…Street Lighting Discussion02

“The thing is that we’re never going to get a chance to go back in and fix this if we don’t do it now.”

The council directed the engineer on the project to proceed in drawing up plans and specifications for the lighting and to proceed in getting bids.
