(Spencer)– Multiple injuries were reported in a single vehicle crash Wednesday in Clay county.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 40-year-old Maria Urbina-Rivera of Marathon was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound in the 2600 mile of Highway 18 when she lost control of the vehicle on the ice-covered road. The pickup went into the opposite lane, then into the south ditch.
Authorities say Urbina-Rivera and three children ages 8, 11, and 14 were taken to Spencer Hospital. Deputies believe the 11-year-old was ejected through the back window of the pickup and wound up in the truck bed.
The pickup was totaled.
Dickens Fire and Rescue, Spencer Ambulance and Clay County Emergency Management assisted on the scene.
The crash took place around 9:15 am. Authorities say it’s still under investigation.
