(Undated)– Most local law enforcement agencies will be participating in a special traffic enforcement campaign over the upcoming holidays. The theme this year is “drive merry, bright and sober this holiday season: drive sober or get pulled over”. It’s a collaborative effort involving the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
According to the agency, there were 285 fatalities related to drunk driving in the 2018 holiday season, the latest year for which statistics are available. They urge everyone to plan ahead if you’re going to be celebrating the holidays with an impairing substance, and have a sober driver take you home or have a designated driver.
The campaign began today (Fri.) and continues through January 1st, 2021.
