(Estherville)– The Estherville City Council Monday evening approved an additional $5,000 in funding for the community’s “Neighborhood Facade Grant Program”.
City Administrator Penny Clayton told the council the city received a total of 23 applications for the program, with 12 being awarded funding, for a total of $30,000. The city had previously approved $25,000 for the program. The additional $5,000 in funding will come from the city’s Local Option Sales Tax revenues.
Clayton says the goal of the program is to help improve the appearance of the community…
Clayton added they’re looking at continuing the program next year and may make some revisions. Currently the program is limited to those only owning one home. Clayton says they’re also looking at making another classification of housing to the program…
The council also Monday evening approved a 50 cent per hour increase in pay for Estherville firefighters, going from $14.50 per hour currently to $15.00 effective this coming July 1st. Pay for officers will remain at the current level.
