Two Vehicle Collision Sends One Person To The Hospital With Minor Injury

December 03, 2020

(Spencer)– A two vehicle collision Wednesday at the North Y in Spencer sent one person to the hospital with a minor injury.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says a 17-year-old male was driving a 2001 Chevrolet S10 pickup eastbound on Highway 18 and had stopped at the intersection. Authorities say the teen then pulled into the path of a 2012 Mercedes van driven by 25-year-old Usman Khan of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, who was southbound on Highway 71.

A passenger in the vehicle driven by Khan was taken to Spencer Hospital for a minor leg injury.

Damage to the pickup was estimated at $4,000 while the van sustained an estimated $7,000 in damage.

The teen driving the pickup was cited for failure to obey a stop sign.

The collision took place shortly before 1:00 pm.

The Iowa State Patrol, Spencer police and Spencer Ambulance Service assisted on the scene.
