(Primghar)– Multiple citations have been filed against a Sibley woman in connection with a single vehicle crash Thursday night.
The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office says deputies received a report around 11:00 pm Thursday of a vehicle in the ditch with no one around it. An investigation resulted in a deputy finding a suitcase in the vehicle with the name of Jennifer Peterson on it with a Sibley address. Efforts to locate Peterson at her residence were unsuccessful.
Authorities say they received a call from Peterson the next day wanting to get items from the vehicle. A deputy met with Peterson who told him she had been driving the vehicle when the crash took place around 10:00 pm Thursday. She got a ride and spent the night at a friend’s place. The next morning Peterson was taken by private vehicle to the Sibley hospital for treatment of an injury sustained in the crash.
Upon further investigation deputies say it appears the vehicle Peterson had been driving went into the ditch and became airborne after vaulting a field approach.
Peterson was cited for failure to report a personal injury accident, failure to maintain control and open container for a driver 21 years old and older.
Authorities say the 2010 Mazda she was driving was totaled.
